Poker Courchevel. Features of the game and the rules

Classic poker after a while begins to get bored and fans of excitement are looking for an alternative solution. Today, it is worth considering a variant of poker Courchevel, which resembles a 5-card Omaha. But there are differences, as well as peculiarities, so that the gameplay becomes more interesting.

What is Courchevel?

It is one of the varieties of Omaha, essentially. And the game gets its name from the ski resort located in France.

Varieties of the game

There are actually some differences, and players have extra choices. It all depends on the desired size of bets and restrictions:

  1. Fixed.
  2. unlimited.
  3. Pot-limit.

In fact, the variations are familiar and poker players know exactly what they’re talking about. The no-limit version is considered to be the best and is worth talking about, because here you can lose everything in the stack in just one hand or multiply your bankroll by several times.

And there is a division according to how the winner is identified:

  1. High, where the high hand wins.
  2. high-low, where both the highest and the lowest combination win.

But these are by no means the unique distinguishing features of the game. Here you also need to learn the rules.

How to play poker Courchevel

How do I play Courchevel?

Immediately, MB and BB are put into the pot. These are the mandatory bets placed by the two players after the dealer. With each hand the positions shift, so everyone will bet the blinds.

Next the players get 5 cards each, and immediately the first card out of the 5 total cards is placed on the table. This is the first card of the flop. And seeing it gives the player at least a rough idea of what to expect.

Deal

Then the bidding starts immediately and after everyone bids, two more flop cards are dealt face up. After that the bets are evened up and another card is dealt, 4 on the turn. After that, bidding goes again and the next 5 card is the river.

How do you determine the winner?

Once all 5 cards have been dealt and are on the table, there is a final round of bidding. When all bets have been placed, the player to the left of the dealer is the first to show up. The highest combination wins the hand.  Two pocket cards and 3 cards on the table take part in forming this combination.

It is important to learn all the combinations at the table before the game starts, as it makes it easier for you to know what’s going on.
